I have recently purchased a new pc with XP Home edition.
When I log on as administrator I can print with no
problems. However, if someone logs on as a limited user
they cannot print and I can't find out how to get around
this problem
Any suggestions?
The printer is an Epson C42UX which I was previously using
on Win 2000 with no problems

Hi Bill,

Restart the system in Safe mode (hit F8 at startup), logon as administrator.
Open Windows Explorer to C:\Windows\system32\spool and right-click the
folder, choose properties. Go to the security tab and add that user to the
list giving them permission to read & execute.

Hi Greg,

Well, what seems to be the problem? You snipped everything I had responded
to, so I have no real idea of what you are talking about. The solution is
generally in the details......

D'OH! Sorry, I'm browsing this newsgroup via the Web, so it's threaded

The problem to which you addressed the solution is the inability of limited user accounts in XP Home to print

Interestingly, someone named Cori or Cari has posted in the "Windows XP Printing and Fax" newsgroup that the problem seems to occur only on PCs that also have Norton AntiVirus, and a workaround better than making the user account an administrator is sending printjobs directly to the printer instead of spooling them. But someone replied that he has McAfee antivirus software
