I have the drivers for the modem on my XP machine but when i go to add the
modem and then click on have disk and browse to the file it doesnt appear to
accept this inf file,any suggestions??
The modem is a HSP56k modem

Try letting XP find the correct drivers. Also, the driver
file you have on the CD may need to be unpacked or in some
other form to be used. Check with the modem maker's web
site for help with that.

Many times the "driver" file is either a compressed zip file or an
executable that must be run to decompress or unpack the actual drivers.
Does the file contain an number of *.inf, *.cab, etc. or is it just one
file?

Hey i am having the same problem. I also tried to specify the *.inf file,
but it is not accepting it at all and it is not showing any error message
also. it is as though that the system is ignoring my command.
My modem is Smart Link 56K internal modem on Fujitsu Siemens laptop.. it
was working fine for some days but after that it stopped working but when i
tried to reinstall the modem i am not able to do so. enen after specifying
the driver it isnot installing.

i dont know what the problem is . tell me if anyone know the answer.
