I recently purchased a system with XP Home Edition. Admin users can print,
but when a limited user tries to print, the spooler won't start. I've
temporarily given my 13 year old admin privileges as a work around, but I
would like to find the real fix. I've searched and found references to a
Security Tab for the printer. However, none exists. I even went so far as to
restore XP back to the day I booted it. Still no Security tab. Does anyone
know of a fix?

Did you solve the problem? We can't print from the Limited accounts; although, we can print a diagnostic test page from the print window. When we click print the document seems to go to the printer, the printer windows indicate printing is happening...but, nothing prints and the print job vanishes without a trace.

We've seen this happen when Norton Antivirus is installed.... but I have no
clue as to why NAV appears to cause this.

You can resolve the problem by:

Right clicking on the printer from the Control Panel and selecting
Properties.

Click the Advanced Tab and instead of the default which is Spool print
documetns so program finishes printing quicker, select

Print directly to the printer.

Or, the alternative is to find another antivirus software!
