Our daughter's XP Home edition computer had an automatic download of SP3 on
Aug. 30. Within the past 2 weeks the computer has been intermittently
restarting on start-up. Symptoms: Windows comes up, virus protection starts
to load, the mouse slowly locks up, the keyboard locks and we are frozen.
Sometimes it will simply restart by itself.

A repair person checked it for virus-none. It would work fine if it was not
hooked to the internet. We brought it home and it, for the most part, works
fine without internet.

It restarted off the internet while opening Adobe Premiere Elements and the
Error Signature BC Code was 10000050, bcp1 was C46C694B, bcp2: 00000000;
bcp3: 80530F52, bcp4: 00000000. OSVer: 5_1_2600SP:3_0. Prod: 768_1.

I am on another computer and have tried to find out what these code numbers
mean by searching the internet. No success.

Could you tell us what is causing our problem and how to fix it?

Martha

Hi M.I had several problems when i loaded sp3.Obviously bugs in it.What i did
when the problems started, because i,m not a very patient man when it comes to
programs not working right.I went to system restore and restored it to the
day before i loaded sp3.Reloaded sp3 it was fine.I have some very inteligent
friends with computers and they told me that sometimes the download manager
can miss crucial files while downloading. All it takes is for a program to
hiccup and thats it.Its because you have several programs running in the
backround for the os.They need to be there. But sometimes they can be a
pain.So now when an update comes to my attention.I go to configuration and
shut down the startup programs then do the download manually.I don,t bother
with the small updates but when it comes to service packs i do.Sorry for
ramblin so much.I have a bad habit of running off at the bit sometimes.Hope
this helps.TERRY.
