I have looked almost everywhere but still am not sure if Office2007 small
business edition (as I need Publisher) will function OK with XP Home or will
I need XP Professional - I don't use Outlook so the extra fiddly bits on that
make no odds - any advice would be appreciated too Warm regards

It will function just fine with Home.

Operating system:

Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2, Windows Server 2003 with
SP1, or later operating system3

Yes, it will. No problem. You do need to have SP2 installed, however.
or will
I need XP Professional

No, you do not need to upgrade to Pro just to run Office.
