Hi

I have a serious problem with my Windows XP installation.

Due to problems setting up my home network I performed a
restore on my system to a checkpoint before the weekend.

At that time I has a different keyboard and mouse attached
to the PC.

After the restore completed my system does not recognise
either my mouse or keyboard, even if I attach the original
mouse and keyboard.

I tried various options from the F8 menu, non worked.

I booted from the 6 MS supplied boot disks, this did not
help.

I have booted from HDD, floppy and CDrom, non have helped.

I cannot boot in safe mode as I get an error regarding the
had.dll file not being present (it is).

I tried to repair XP by reinstalling over the old version
but it asks me to supply the CDrom in D: and press OK. As
I haven't go a keyboard or mouse I can't do this.

I also tried the recovery wizard with no success, although
I wasn't quite sure what to do with it.

Can anyone help I'm desperate for a resolution as I stand
to lose 60 gigs of data and applications.

Regards

Martin

Thanks Gary

I'll give it a go.

From your statement 'you have nothing to lose' do you
consider that I have a good chance of permanetly losing my
system?

Thanks for your help.

All the best

Losing your system, not really.
As a last resort, I would install WinXP on another partition to get
access to your documents and files you want to keep then do a clean
installation of WinXP.

Hope this helps!
