XP home. I use this computer for audio recording - it's
my studio computer.

I got a cheap printer, and tried to hook it up here on my
network. However, I can't!

In the printer folder, I click "add printer" (the only
option available to click in that folder). A pop-up comes
up and says, "Operation could not be completed." Then I
HAVE to click "ok".

What's the problem here?
PLEASE don't tell me I gotta reinstall windows or
something...hahaah.

If that IS my only cure...does that mean I must reformat?
Can I be POSITIVE that everything else will remain the
same? If not, what things WILL change? Setting up this
softare is not the easiest thing... haha.

Thanks
Scott

Is the print spooler running?

(from the command prompt, type

net start spooler

and hit enter)

Try running "sfc /scannow" from the command line, that typically fixes the
issue (which is the result of some install program futzing around with
things it shouldn't futz around with).

Bonus points if you let us know whether that indeed fixed the problem, and
for taking a look in the event viewer to see what binaries sfc restored.
