XP Hibernation Problems

Guest

Hi,

I'm running XP Home on a Dell Inspiron laptop and am having problems on boot
up after hibernating the system.

Basically the machine resumes and goes to the desktop where it instantly
goes into hibernation mode.

When I reboot it works as expected

I'm currently running SP1A (fully patched) and will be upgrading to SP2 in
the near future, unfortunately the laptop is running critical software and
needs a BIOS upgrade before I can install SP2 so this particular upgrade will
have to wait for a month.

Does anyone have any suggestions where I should be looking?

TIA

Hi,

This may help, as there is a known issue with hibernation causing a 'restart
on resume' when using a hard drive larger than 137GB:

Hard disk may become corrupted when entering standby or hibernation or when
writing a memory dump

There is a patch linked in the article that you will need to apply.
