I have Windows XP installed. I don't want it anymore - I
have to get rid of it. Window's built-in help file said
that Add/Remove programs would allow me to uninstall
Windows by locating the words Windows XP. That option
isn't in Add/Remove programs. So what do I do now?

Greetings --

If you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to backup the
old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS, then all
he needs do is boot into Safe Mode and Start > Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions _must_ be met for the
uninstall option to be available.

Perhaps if you are having trouble with Windows XP or just don't like how it
looks or runs, something could be done. XP is one of the more stable
Windows OSes out there and supports more of the new hardware and software
than any previous versions. Not to mentionits rollback and restoration
features are very useful.

If it is the look/feel - with minor tweaking it can be made to act and feel
like Windows 9X/2000 pretty easily.
If there are other problems, perhaps if you posted them, someone could help
you remedy that.

Not to mention that, if your computer came with XP preinstalled, then you
would invalidate any, and most likely, all warranties conferred upon that
system at the point of sale. Most manufacturers consider a change of OS a
'significant alteration' and will refuse to support the system.
