I was given a full version of XP HOME as a present and
installed it over WIN 98 se. It works fine but none of my
programs are in the program menu. If actually go into the
programs folder they are all there (if I click on
their .exe files i can even use most of them). XP has
succesfully recognized all of my hardware except for my
Santa Cruz Turtle Beach soundcard. (I think this last
would be fixed by reinstalling my drivers for the card -
but I'm more concerned about the main problem). I put in
a second hard drive some time ago which I made my C:
drive. which means my original C drive is now my D:. I
used proprietry software to duplicate everything across to
my new C: drive.
1 is the fact that the version of XP Home the full version
(even though I chose upgrade during installation the
problem)
2 Or, (as I suspect) the problem is switching the hard
drives. If this is the case would switching them around
again so that the original C drive once again becomes the
master hard drive and then reinstalling XP solve the
problem?
(I checked to see if the problem was that there was an
extra profile created by XP (this has been suggested as
the problem) but that is not the case).
