you can change them
back by going to admin
tools and into computer management.

there you can rearrange the drive
letters accordingly...

I don't understand what you mean by:
"renamed a hidden file with dackup information "
but, below is an answer to what I think you asked:

You can change the drive letters by going into disk management. The easiest
way to get there is probably Start; Run and enter diskmgmt.msc in
the box, and click OK. YOu can also use Start; Programs; Administrative
tools to get to it, if I got that right AND if it's been installed there.
There are several possible routes to it.

When you click OK:
You'll see all of your disk drives and partitions there. Right click on say
drive c and temporarily change its drive letter to Z, or anything unused.
Then rename D to C. Then rename Z to D. And you should be all set. Now
drives D and C will have their drive letters swapped. D and C are now C and
D.

IFF you've installed any sofware while you had the messed up drive letters,
you should uninstall it first and reintall it after the drive letters get
straightened out. If you haven't installed anything while the letters were
messed up, you should be all set.
