Hello i have maybe a small problem i hope in my Hardeware manager it is
saying i have 2 processors on my computer when i don't only have a Pentium 4
3ghz and it says i have 2 pentiums 4s 3ghz i tried to uninstall 1 but it just
reappeared?

You either have a Dual Core processor or you have a P4 Hyper-Threading
processor. If you don't want Hyper-Threading it can be disabled in the
BIOS.

You also have a PEBCAK "hardware" problem with your keyboard. Shift,
period, and comma apparently don't work. Always review posts before
posting.

So what CPU do you actually have? A "processor" can have 1, or more,
"cores". Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Processor_core. You didn't
mention WHICH processor you have.

I have no problem with my keyboard. Listen, just typing quickly...didn't
think I needed to impress the psycho grammatical english teacher for a
straight answer! BTW have you ever made mistakes...or are you perfect!?!?!?
lol

To answer your question...I have an intel celeron 3 ghz single-core. I know
some processors have more than one core and thank you to John for the great
info earlier.

It was merely a prod to remember to review your post next time before
hitting the Send button. Write, review, then send.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperthreading

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=+disable++hyperthreading++bios
(adding your make and model for the prebuilt host or motherboard would
narrow the search results)

If it wasn't just curiosity and you are having problems with a
particular application with hyperthreading enabled, try adjusting the
process' affinity (to assign the application to a particular processor).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Processor_affinity
http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-10878_11-6168870.html

Besides the Tom's Hardware THG utility mentioned above, there are other
such affinity utilities, like:

http://www.beyondlogic.org/solutions/processutil/processutil.htm
http://www.activeplus.com/us/freeware/runfirst/

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...e9-b581-47b0-b45e-492dd6da2971&DisplayLang=en
(I believe you can set the affinity to a single processor).

I've heard the 'start' command has an "/affinity n" parameter (so you
could create a shortcut that set affinity for the program to one
"processor"). n is core # + 1, so "/affinity 3" would use CPU #2.
Alas, it appears the /affinity parameter is only valid on Windows
Vista, not on Windows XP.
