My problem is: when I have my USB HP Deskjet 3320 printer
connected and try to power up my computer, the computer
hangs on the black screen, just after the Windows XP
Professional boot screen, for a couple of minutes and
then continues to load to the desktop. It also seems to
lose the driver, finding "New Hardware" and I have to
reinstall the driver. If I unplug the printer and try to
boot up, everything is normal. I have tried updating
Windows, motherboard drivers, printer drivers, etc. I can
hear the HDD "spin up" and then just before it loads the
desktop (a couple of minutes later) I hear it "spin down"
and then spin up again and windows loads to the desktop.
I'm running and Asus A7V8X-MX motherboard, AMD 2400XP+
Athlon, 1GB DDR 40GB Maxtor HDD.

Disconnect all your USB Devices rt click MyComputer>Select
Prop>Hardware>Device Manager>USB Controllers. Uninstall all of them. Restart
and let XP reload them. Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove programs. Uninstall
the HP Printer Software. Go to Start>Run type: regedit. Go to
HKLM\Software. Delete the HP folder same at HKCU\Software if it's
there. Restart and reinstall the HP Printer Software
then reconnect the Printer.
