Xp hanging while connected

WHy the heck does windows hang when I connect to the
internet to open programs some times it compleatly screws
up and I have to hit the off switch. It only does it on
every third connect or so and its highly annoying.
 
Same here. XP Home hanging when I connect to internet for maybe 2
minutes or more. Everything seems to get buffered.
