Is there anyway to get XP group policy objects into a Windows 2000 domain
active directory structure so I can have XP based policy settings like i do
for the local GPO on XP cleintsbut would perfer to do it ona domain basis.

Hello George,

Yes, managing the group policy using GPMC on the Windows XP client can
provide Windows XP group policy settings in the Windows 2000 Server Domain.

1. Get the GPMC SP1 from that link and install it on the Windows XP client.
2. On the Windows XP client run the GPMC with the domain administrator
credential, under the specific container (site, domain or OU) right click
the group policy object and click Edit.
3. In the Group Policy Object Editor, modify the policy settings as you
want.

For more introduction of using GPMC to administer group policies you may

Hope it helps.

Hi,

Sure, you can create and link a GPO to the OU node under Domains--->Domain
name node.

Hi,

I tried to copy the group policy folder (C:\Windows\System32\Group policy)
from Windows Vista and paste it on my Windows XP sp2 computer. unfortunately
the changes that i made concerning USB restriction does not work. Is there a
way to restrict USB removable device in the Group policy of Windows XP or
upgrading it so that it has the same features as Windows Vista??

THANKS
