XP freezes

When I boot up, I select the user name (or any user name), windows says loading settings, the desktop appears but no icons or anything. I can move the cursor but cannot do anything else. Works fine in Safe Mode. I ran virus scan and there are none. help.

When desktop comes up click on taskbar, toolbar and see if desktop is checked.
