Windows XP XP freezes when I use IE or go into Admin Folder

I have been having a problem with XP freezing up when I use IE (different time durations between 1 min and 40 mins) or sometimes when I am in the admin folder or services folder. I have a 244mhz processor and 128MB of RAM. I started using fox fire for the internet and XP works great while online, but XP still locks up (have to reboot) when I open the Admin folder or Services folder in the Control panel. Can anyone assist me on this?
 
the problem is your computer isn't powerful enough to run XP, that system would be better with Win 95 or 98
 
You may want to consider downgrading the OS.... but maybe you would see satifactory selutls with more Ram. That is if your board could handle it... I think 215mb should be minimum when using XP.
