Hi all!

I have an AMD compatible 1400MHz computer with two hard drives on which I
have a version of Windows XP installed on each. Suddenly today, Windows
freezes when I start up, on both versions! Both in regular mode and in fail
safe mode. Does this seem like a hardware problem or what could be the
reason?

Thanks!

I had a similar problem after installing the Silicon Image storage software
update for XP dated Februayy 03 2004. I had to revert to a previously known
good startup. Unfortunately I keep being reminded that this update is
available. Can this be stopped?

Well if you mean the memory test that runs directly when you start the
computer, it finishes succesfully, or do you mean some other memory test?

The freeze doesn't occur until Windows is almost completely loaded and I see
my icons on the desktop.

But now it doesn't start at all until I have pushed the power buttons a few
times. Maybe it's a power unit problem?

Thanks!

Just for the record, I brought my computer to the store, and it turned
out my motherboard had quit. I got a new one and now it works fine!

Thanks for your help!
