hi
built my brand new system, amd x2 4400 with 160 seagate 3 Gb/s hd.
First xp setup only sees 130 GB of the 160. Then when i tried to format
it with the xp cd, it freezes at different %. The machine boots up fine
and it sees all the components. The hd formats fine with another pc
with a P4 chip, so i know it's not the hd's problem. Help anyone? Any
suggestion would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you using XP CD with SP1/SP2 or an original release CD without any
service patches to format the drive?

As DL said you need SP1 or SP2 (SP2 incorporates all of the SP1 changes) in
order to support 48Bit LBA for drives of these size to be properly
recognized.
