embedded,

By any chance do you have EWF running on your image and enabled?

Btw, having pagefile on CF may not be a good idea as it will wear it out faster.

Hello all,

I build a XPE and I put it into a 1G CF, I also specify the page file
size from 100 to 300 MB before I build image, but every time after I start
XPE and check page file size, it is still "0", even I change use "System
Manage" , restart XPE, it is STILL "0".

What's wrong??? It is because 1G is not big enough for my image??? I only
use 378MB for XPE.

Thanks a lot!!!

KM,

Thank you very much, what setting should I use? I did follow the "Using
CF with the Enhanced write Filter" article changed registry setting of XPE,
but after that, my XPE won't boot. Then I just add components and didn't
change registry setting.

So I don't know now.:-(

If you follow MS guidelines you should do FBA and installations on HDD
anyhow, then disable pagefile and copy image from HDD to CF.

Regards,
Slobodan

KM, Thanks a lot, I'm new to XPE in CF, my question is can I have XP in
run in 1G CF and have pagefile for it or I can only use "0" MB???

I am not sure I understand what problem(s) you are trying to resolve now.
I thought you were trying to change the pagefile settings.
Can you expand on the specific steps you performed and what were the
results (errors, BSODs, behavior, etc.)?

I agree with Slobodan - you should prepare your image on HDD with or without the pagefile.

Unfortunately, it is known that some applications (really bad design to be used on embedded devices) may depend on the pagefile
support in the image. This is especially true if performance counters used.

Thank you all so much for the help, so I can't use pagefile for this 1G XP
then.

But I have a new trouble, we want to install JRE 1.4 into it, but every
time after we encounter "Low in virtual memory"(Because no pagefile)
message, the installation program gets an error message and exit.

How can we install JRE into this 1G XPE, or it's impossible to run JAVA
program in it????

Thanks a lot.

OK, thank you all for the help!!!!!!!! :-)
