I have a 2 PC wireless Home Network that I just setup..

should I enable the XP Firewall in the Main system or both
systems.. I d/l Zone Alarm on the Main System .. should I
also put it on the wireless 2nd PC??

or is it just ok to enable the XP Firewall on the Main PC
where the router is connected???

when I enable the XP Firewall on either or both systems I
can't get the shared files or shared printer to work unless
I disble them.. but those systems work when I disable the
XP firewall(s) and enable the Zone Alarm on the main PC..

trying to stay 'protected' so any thoughts/ideas/knowledge
to a neophyte wireless kinda guy is greatly appreciated :)

thanx

XP's firewall is meant for use only on a direct connection to the
Internet (dial-up, cable modem, DSL modem, etc). As you've found, it
blocks file and printer sharing on a local area network connection.

Use ZoneAlarm on both computers. It protects against undesired
Internet traffic coming into your computers or going out from your
computers.

If the Main system is using Internet Connection Sharing to give
Internet access to the 2nd PC, make these ZoneAlarm settings on the
Main system: set the Internet Zone Security to Med. and set the
Trusted Zone Security to Low.
