XP firewall

I have followed the instructions careefully for enabling
the firewall for XP, but, the Firewall setting does not
show up. Any ideas why?

Are you logged in as an administrator?
 
Yes, since then I habve tested it by adding a test DUP,
and the firewall option shows up for the DUP. (I'm using
Roadrunner BTW)

I have the same problem - did you get a solution? - from
what I'm reading it suggests we've been hacked or attacked
by some kind of spyware and registry entries changed so we
can't turn it on and therefore block their access - can
you see your Internet Connection icon on the start bar?
 
No, I haven't got an answer. Can you help me out on
where you got your information. Doesn't sound good
