Not sure what you mean - the native burning applet isn't used for 'burning'
discs in the traditional sense - it's only there so you can back up files to
disc. If you wish to burn a CD that can be read in other systems (I assume
that's why you want to finalise the disc) then you need to use a third party
application, e.g. Easy CD 6 or Nero 6.
