I purchased a copy of Windows XP Pro a few months ago and
I am going to re-install it again on my computer tonight
(again). I have been having installation problems in the
past where during the file copy process from CD to the
newly formatted drive, error messages come up "Could not
copy file XXXXXXX.xx, this file is not the same as the
cab file which is being copied from. Or something like
that.
And it goes on to say this could indicate bad media or
CD. The DVD drive works ok (I play DVD movies on it when
I manage to get a stable boot). I even tried another
CDROM and it comes up with the same error. I replaced the
cable and the hard drive is virtually new (Chkdsk comes
up with good result).
Do you know what this could be? The above ends up being
an unsatisfactory installation.
