it takes 2 minutes from the time i hit eject before the door opens on my CD
drive. explorer is real slow too have run antivirus and updated windows any
suggestions?

There might be an option in your Antivirus program to diable this option
where it scans a disk or CD.

That should speed it up.

I hope this helps

If your computer was working OK before the notices slow-down. you might have downloaded a program that XP does not like. If this be the case delete any recent program and see if it helps.

I have the same problem. It takes 2 minutes plus or minus a few seconds for my Computer to refresh. I have replaced the mother board disk drives and reloaded windows. I got it to go away after a reload but then when I reloaded Norton System Works it came back. Unloading it did not solve the problem. I have loaded all the fixes and patches and I have cleared all the Spybots.
It acts like it is looking for something that it fails to find several times and then gives up at exactly the same time each time. I also removed all the remote stores to eliminate that but it did nothing.
I give. I am out of ideas.
