My system has 2 hard drives one is a copy of the other) each with 4
partitions (one for ME, one XP home, one for software and one for data).
Yesterday xp home hung at the Welcome screen with the hard drive light on).
I shut the system down and it would no longer boot into xp on either hard
disk. In fact both OS partitions had been erased (but the partitions still
existed). A clean install of XP home was performed, all updates loaded, AV
software was reinstalled and the system performed fine. This AM the new xp
partition was erased in the boot process before the welcome screen was
reached.

Another curious fact is that neither EZ antivirus nor AVG antivirus will
load on the ME partition.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Mike Fanning

Hello : You might have a boot sector virus that your current anti virus
is unable to detect ..... My thought on free virus protection is " You
never get a free lunch " ......... Total
