Hello All

Here is my delema, I've got a aplication that runs almost 24 X7. The users
that run this app work 1st shift and a 2nd shift. This app that runs 24 X 7
runs test on production equipment that may take up to 4 to 5 hours. It's
common for a 4 to 5 hour test to overlap shifts, and it would be a waste of
time for a user to log off, and get the second shift person to log in, so we
have created a domina user that stays logged in al the time. With a local
policy, we've made this user account sercure, since access is limited. My
question is, that user needs to gain access to certain folder at various
spots on the HD. Will xp embedded give me the ability to browse a HD and
have access to only certain folders?

Thanks

Well... XPE security works pretty much the same as any other NT-based
Windows. So, you can limit read/write access for individual folders
based on user privledges. If the user account you created is *not* an
admin, you can restrict any folders you want to be off-limits. Without
knowing more about your needs, I can't *guarantee* it'll do what you
want, but it probably will. It's not quite as robust as, say *NIX
permissions, but it's a pretty good system -- you can do it on any NTFS
file system. If you run NT, W2K, or XP at home, you can try it for
yourself. AFAIK, XPE does nothing different from the desktop OS's.
