XP DVD not playing Sound

Hi Experts,

The system is Dell Dimension 8300.
I have two drives
1. cdrw
2. DVD RW
The cd plays sound
The DVD is not playing sound but the cdrw plays it fine.
Steps Performed
================
1.Reinstalled the WinDVD
2. Msconfig to clean startup programs.
3. Ran Spybot

What else i can do to resolve the issue ??

You don't say if it ever did but here is something to try.
In device manager select the DVD drive Double click to open properties
and pick the properties tag . Now put a check in Digital Cd Playback If
there is not one there.
CD and DVD drives have two audio out puts Digital via the IDA cable and
analogue via a 3 wire plug to the board In most cases this is dispersed
with . Let's hope that was the case and your now up and running
 
Click on start, settings, control panel. Double click the sounds an
audio devices icon. This will bring up the config properties for you
audio. Click on the hardware tab farthest to the right. Here you wil
see a list of devices, and two should show up. Click on the device tha
you want to play the music and click properties, then properties again
now make sure there is a check mark next to "Enable digital CD audi
for this cd-rom device
