Hi!

Where does XP Pro save it's "Downloads".
I would like to save them to disk so that I can re-install them after a
re-install of XP, and not have to download and re-install them everytime.

They go into a WUpdate folder and the contents are deleted when the
installation is complete. To save the download, copy the file from that
folder *before* clicking agree on the eula screen. Or use the download
selection at the Microsoft support site to search for XP updates
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en). Download
and save freestanding installation packages.

NOTE: If you still have v4 of Windows update installed, you can use the
"Windows Catalog" option (add to update page via settings) to obtain the
freestanding downloads.

Better yet, download the XP SP2 download (large download)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en,
copy it to the hard drive and then use slipstream
http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=188337 to create your
own XP SP2 ISO file then burn a new install CD.

Be mindful of word-wrap in the long URLs
Except watch the slipstreaming, The Network SP2 download as I understand it
is a superset containing every change to XP since the original release
(including SP1a) PLUS a system review program which will only apply those
updates it finds to be missing from your present OS. I know this for a fact
since I downloaded and applied this package to my OS. I then burned this
package to two CDs. One for my permanent retention and the other for my
friends/relatives to use. I suggest you do the same.

Yes, it contains all changes for XP Home, Pro, Media & Tablet editions.

I just finished slipstreaming all five of my XO CDs (Two home upgrades, Two
Pro Upgrades and one Pro Full install with no problem with the AutoStream
software found at the second URL listed on my original post. Took all of
about 1 hour for all five copies.

Now I'll burn them to CDs and test them on one system I have as a strictly
test system then I'll be ready for rebuilding if necessary.

Boy, I had the wrong read on that one!
Apologies to Mike and best to all....
