Kris

I have a W2K server that I joined XP Pro to domain. It
is recognized and I can log in to domain. I set up
account in local machine and map drive for access no
problem.

Problem: Trying to give domain users access to files I
want to share on my machine. Only users available are
local users. No option to add domain users.

How to access a w2k/xp workstation in a domain environment

In a domain environment, if you shared your w2k/xp workstation everyone will
be able to access your sharing folders by default. If you want to limit the
access, you may want to remove everyone from the sharing folders. However,
if not domain users can access the sharing folders even you have given
rights to everyone, you may want to enable guest account. Also you may want
to use net use to cache credentials.

Kris,

This is pretty strange... Local machine users and domain users are two
different security realms. You can add domain users to the local machine
user group, but (to the best of my knowledge) not the other way around.

As Robert mentioned, shares are assigned by default to Everybody
permissions. Don't confuse the Sharing permissions with the directory/files
rights.

After making sure your users are logging into the domain, I would log into
XP as a domain administrator, I would delete the shares and re-create them.
Domain admins are automatically added to the local admins group.
