XP doesn't see driver

I recently added a new XP machine to my home LAN. I'm
trying to get it to print to a Lexmark attached to another
machine (running 98). It sees the other computer and the
printer, but gives me an error message something like "The
printer server does not have the correct driver
installed". Obviously the 98 machine has the driver since
it (and another machine on the network) print fine. I
tried installing the driver locally but that won't work
without the printer being attached to the XP machine.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Dean,

the error is actually quite correct, one simply has to know how the
microsoft mind works :-)

The windows 98 machine is the printer server, it "hosts" the printer.
The error says the server does not have the correct driver, what this means
is the windows 98 machine has a driver for Windows 98 but not for XP

If you go to the win98 machine and open the properties of the printer, on
the sharing tab you should find a button marked "additional drivers" (not
100% sure of the name, no Win98 here and I have never done this on that O/S
so you might have to hunt a bit to find the option)
I have Windows 2000 and XP here and both have that option so lets assume for
the moment that 98 does too.
Install an XP driver and you should be in business, after you reboot Win98
15 times :-)
