I get the message C:\Windows\system32\dfrg.msc is not a valid win32 application.

This occured after an automatic clearance tool was used to clear bagle viruses. I replaced the registry file from Kellys-Korner. Any help available with out doing a total HD wipeout and restart?

You can run System File Checker tool to scan all of the
protected files on your computer:
Click Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
In the open box, type; sfc /scannow (including space) and
then click OK. Or just type that in your run box also,
Note
that you may be prompted to insert the Windows XP
installation CD-ROM so it can copy needed files.

Should be able to reinstall defrag. goto control panel,
add remove programs and add/remove windows components,
then check the accessories box and the system tools box.
defrag should reappear. there was obviously a virus that
attacked your defrag program and the virus scanner must
have deleted it to stop the virus.
