Hi

does anyone else get a BSOD when hibernating or when the system goes
into standby? I get the following:

A wait operation, attach process or yield was attempted from a dpc routine.

STOP: 0x000000B8(0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000)

I had this problem along with Driver IRQ BSOD problem before. In the end
it wouldn't let me boot so I formatted drive (to NTFS again and deleted
any excess partitions) and reinstalled xp pro. so far its been ok expect
the above BSOD when I set my laptop to hibernation or it enters standby
mode.

I have looked at so many sites (through google) I feel like im going
cross-eyed!

Your my last resort! Please help.

The majority of BSOD's related to hibernation (that I've seen) are directly
related to problems with the video drivers. BUT, there are lot's of other
causes also.

Update your video drivers to the latest WHQL certified version and see if
that helps (it's always worked for me). Also, running sfc.exe /scannow on
your system and sigverif.exe on the system32 sub-directory may help you track
this down.

I had the same problem but only when I would totally shut down the computer.
It turned out to be a bad memory chip. On booting, the memory would count
up correctly and the same memory worked fine with 98SE, however it seems
that XP used a location on one of the chips when shutting down to save the
existing settings. I removed one memory card at a time and tried to
duplicate the problem and was able to pinpoint which card it was. Hope this
helps.
