My neighbor has a laptop that sometimes crashes when printing PDF's with
80 or more pages. The last time it happened I made sure he had the
latest Adobe PDF reader, the latest drivers for his HP computer, and all
MS updates for his XP SP2 laptop.I recommended that he close Firefox
before printing large doc's in future because it seems to be a
microprocessor hog, not playing nicely with the other apps on the block.

Are there print buffer or other windows tweaks I can use that might help
fix this?

TIA,
Mike

Sorry, that should have read 'the latest drivers for his HP printer'.

Uninstall all versions of Adobe (Acrobat) Reader and then either install
the newest version from Adobe or install Foxit:
Foxit: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php

Alternatively, you could try an OLDER and known good
version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. I don't know why but
I have found the latest (v.8 for XP) seriously buggy.
Many installation CDs provide v.6.0.1 which gets error/
upgrade messages (for Chinese fonts etc.) but displayed
and printed OK for years . . .

Thanks to all of the responders, I'll try v6 and Foxit and see how they
work.
