xp crashes when 10% DEFRAG

Hey Dave

Post the stop error codes, did it mention the name of a driver ?

The codes are recorded in the system event log

start/run
eventvwr.msc

click system

Look for the latest entries labelled "System Error" or "Save Dump"

Dear Paul : I solved my problem by running it in safe
mode,. Thank you so much for your time and effort, it was
most considerate of you. p.s. the save dump code was
1001, there was no system error I could find in the event
log. Thanks again Paul
