If I leave my pc for more than say 1/2 an hour, the
screensaver comes on, but any future movement of the
mouse or keyboard causes the system to freeze. Only
holding in the power button will enable shutdown and re-
start. ctrl / alt / delete does not work

Any assistance would be gratefully received on this very
annoying porblem. Thanks

You might want to try clearing you cache file (cookies)
or temporary internet files if you haven't already.
Sometimes if you have alot of cookies in this file it
will sometimes cause your computer slow down or even stop.

Look in the Event Viewer for error that might pertain to your freezing
problem. Look in Help and Support > Performance and Maintaince >
Maintaining Your Computer > Get Information About Your Computer. This
section will give you information about problem hardware. Repost with
results and to receive more assistance. Jym

Well, if it is causing a problem, turn off the
screensaver, then click the power button and
select "always on" power scheme, turn off monitor "after
20 min", "never", "never" and click apply. You may also
want to disable Hibernate see the Hibernate tab. How much
ram do you have? Look in the task manager, performance
tab. What is the total commit charge compared to the
total memory? If the TCC is just slightly less than the
TM you may need more RAM or an increase in the size of
your paging file. Also, defrag the HD on a regular basis
and use ad-aware 6, Spybot S&D or SpywareBlaster.
