We took an XP Pro machine from a networked office and we
are trying to set it up at home as a home computer. We
cant get passed the logon screen. The passwords wont work
because I assume that it is looking for a server to verify
the password, but its no longer connected to a network.

How do we bypass the logon password screen and remove the
network so we can use it as a home machine?

Thank you.

One would assume that you would first try and Login to the
local account for that individual machine name in place of
the domain (network name) name. See if that works. Try
logging in as administrator with no password to the local
workstation account name.

We tried changing from the Domain to the local user
account (at the logon screen it gave us the option in a
drop down box) but the password that we thought it was
must be incorrect or its looking for the network to verify
it. We did try using admin w/ the old admin password and
w/ it blank.

It was a small business that I sold and someone showed me
how to set the machine up to belong to a domain. Now that
I have taken the computer back, I need to remove the
network/CTRL ALT DLT PASSWORD LOGON and I assume in order
to do that I need to bypass the logon/password screen.

How do I do that?

Thank you
