XP Compatibility

I have two questions. 1) Should I be at all concerned if I am adding a component or software and XP pops up recommending that I not do that because the component or software has not passed Windows XP Logo program approval? Common sense tells me that I should listen to these warnings, but then do such large numbers of resellers and manufacturers so often tell me, "Don't worry about what Microsoft says, load it anyway."? Does everyone else know something I don't know about this? I am beginning to suspect this could just be a marketing scheme in disguise
2) Can anyone tell me if the ASUS P4PE is compatible with XP or not. According to the Microsoft web site back in mid-September it was not compatible with XP, but now suddenly I see it is sporting the XP logo. I know nothing has changed with thie board and that as it is straight from the box, XP is going to balk at it when you load a couple of the drivers, video being one of them as I remember.

The Windows XP Logo test is a market ploy by Microsoft. Thsi is to insure
that most hardware will work in XP. Manufacturers have to pay for each type
of hardware they send for testing so some just do not send their hardware
for testing.

Microsoft may have tested an original P4PE motherbaord and found it not
compatible. Asus keeps updating their motherbaord specs and BIOS so it may
now be Xp compatible.

Thanks for responding. I wasn't sure my unflattering and somewhat disrespectful message would even survive here as written. I glad that it did and I am glad that you answered and were straight with me. I have felt for some time as though I was being manipulated as a consumer and unfairly influenced by this program re purchasing decisions since from the evidence I was seeing appeared as though it favored and promoted the products of those businesses with which Microsoft had entered into special business arrangements. While you haven't really changed that opinion, your response has certainly put it into better perspective. Thanks
