Doug

I have a AOPEN crw1232 MODEL CD BURNER.

Light keeps blinking on it because (im assuming this is
why) its not XP compatible. Updated driver search (im
terrible at searches) produced nothing but a dos driver.
I'm not in a position where I can buy a new one
unfortunately....can anyone tell me any tricks to make it
useable in xp??

Thx

Check your local ads from Best Buy, Circuit City, Office Max, or Office
Depot or CompUSA and wait until they go on sale. You can pick a new 52X one
up for less than 10 dollars after rebates. This decision of not compatible
should be addressed before upgrading a system with an operating system that
you could not find XP drivers before spending the money on it.

The manufacture's site below list only a DOS driver and specifically says it
will not work in windows. Were you running it in Windows prior to XP?
Seems the only solution is to go back to the system you were using it on or
buy a new drive which will normally not require a driver to be recognized by
XP as a drive. The only thing to be sure of is that the CDRW drive you
replace it with has software to burn cd with. Good luck trying to get it to
work.
