I am testing a new XP image with the view of going live with it soon
but am having an annoying problem with name resolution;
Looking at other posts, most people are reporting slow logons which
seem to indicate DNS problems but my problem is occuring after the
logon process has completed.
Clients are lightning quick to logon, and roaming profiles are working
a treat but for some reason dns then becomes very slow; one minute you
can ping a DC and get an instant reply, then all of a sudden you can
ping the same DC then wait for nearly a minute before you get a reply.
Problem is particularly noticeably in outlook and when browsing
Internet.
Checking DNS on the server it looks to be configured correctly, so
maybe it is a load issue on the DNS Servers (2 DCs both running DNS
Serving 300 PCs in single domain environment).
Only thing is that we have 2k clients on the network that are not
exhibiting the same problems!!
Any ideas??
