Having selected Data file to copy to CD drive I select CD
Writing Wizard, which says "There is No disc in the drive"
when OF COURSE there is !!!!

I can play Audio/DVD via drive and copy Audio via Windows
Media Player, BUT I need to copy Data files (back-up
included) and Wizard will simply not recognise there is a
disc in the drive.

This first happened 2/3 weeks ago & I wiped system clean
and reloaded after which Drive operated correctly, BUT
problem has re-appeared !!

Help is needed Please.
Mike

Dont use XP's built-in burning. Use
something like DirectCD 5+ or 6.

XP's built in burning is hopeless IMO
and it also doesnt support packet-writing.

I appreciate comment BUT it had burned successful Data CD
to the same brand a week or so ago !

Well, I use DirectCD for data. Works good.

As you can copy and paste thru My Computer
and it burns it straight away to CD.
(And copy files to the CD, later on if you
dont fill the CD up in the one session).

(You can either use that, or INCD (but not both)
(BUT I've never used INCD, so dont know
how good/bad it is).

They dont like each other! I disabled XP's
built in burning thru the Control Panel, as
if you try to use that and/or INCD, or DirectCD
all at the same time, it'll

1. Most probably wont work.

2. Keep coming up with this invalid function
or something error.

3. Screw your CDR up!

I do use Nero, but only for burning MP3's
and when I get a DVD Burner, DVD's.

Nah, I dont think it has anything to do with
the brand of CDR/CDRW you use. I use
really cheap CDR's. It's the program you use,
on how it turns out in the end.
