I've recently added an XP laptop to my network which
previously had 3 Win2k machines. One of the machines has
a shared folder and printer I'd like to access. The XP
machine doesn't see any of the other machines on the
network. It can access the internet fine. I put it into
the same workgroup as the other machines. What else am I
missing to make this work?

On the 2k machines make sure that you have created a user
account that matches the user name and password for the XP
machine. Give it local admin permissions to avoid hassles
(If you feel it is a secure environment).

Give this a try and keep us posted.

Please see my post reply to Avihu above and my reply to
myself. I got mine network going and it does all I ever
dreamed of in an ehternet!

I don't see a reply to yourself anywhere and the reply to
Avihu doesn't have any details. Please be more specific.

I think I may have discovered the problem. My Win2k
network is set up to use NetBEUI. The XP machine does NOT
have this protocol, of course. I also have no original XP
disk, only recovery disks, to get the driver. I really
don't want to have to reconfigure all the Win2k machines,
since they are working. Any way to get the NetBEUI
protocol from some other location? Am I on the right
track?
