Hello. I was running vista business when i installed a new secondary (D:)
drive for my files/movies. The drive worked fine in vista. I just wiped vista
(it sucks) and put XP pro back on the C: drive. During install it fussed
about not recognizing the drives but i didn't think anything about it. I had
to install XP twice (w/format) before it "took." After finishing setup i went
to install some files from my D: drive and it wasn't there. I looked in Disk
Manager and the drive shows as "Unreadable." I can't import it or anything!
What's going on here? Can XP not read a drive created with Vista? Is there a
way around this? I REALLY need those files, they're my life!! If i get
another drive and re-install vista can i read the D: drive? I've GOT to get
those files. Please HELP! Thanks in advance.

have you heard of encryption as file protection in vista?

do you have the encryption key?

good luck

Unless he/she expressly enabled it, bit locker shouldn't be an issue. Vista
NTFS volumes/partitions should be perfectly readable from XP. They are on my
dual boot machine.

Sounds like something else happened..
