At home here in sunny and warm Ohio, I have two computers networked together through a router.
One machine runs XP, and the other, Vista Home.
My Vista machine can see my XP machine, but my XP machine cannot see my Vista machine.
I can ping my Vista machine from my XP machine, and vice versa.
When I go to enable Network Discovery on my Vista machine, it is initially set to "custom." I click on "custom" and am given the choice to enable network discovery.
After hitting "apply" I am given the option to turn on folder sharing. I select the first choice, hit "apply" and then that dreadedly cryptic message "RPC Server is unavailable" appears.
I've checked around here on the forums and on the Internet in general and no suggestions that I have found have worked.
This RPC deal is turned on in the services (Vista) but I'm not sure what other services might need to be enabled to get rid of this error and allow my XP machine to see my Vista machine.
Thanks,
Alan
