Windows XP XP cannot detect a USB thumb drive

Houston, I got troubles...

Today, whenever I try to plug my thumb drive and my computer cannot detect it and I get the following message. "A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly".
I dont know what to do!
any advices will be greately apprecciated.

It seems you may not have drivers installed for your USB2 ports?

Does everything else thats plugged into them work?

Are you running SP2?
