XP Cannot Access Vista Files

Ralph Smith

I have Vista Ultimate on one computer and XP Pro on the 2nd. Vista has
access to all the XP Pro files and printer and works perfectly but XP Pro
cannot see the files or the printer on Vista. This seems to be the opposite
problem everyone has. I can ping both computers from Vista but cannot ping
the Vista computer from XP Pro. Firewalls are off. I am running Linksys.
Workgroup is properly named on both computers. Tried turning off WEP but
that didn't solve problem. Before I installed Vista, the network running XP
Pro on both machines worked perfectly. File sharing is turned on.
Permissions are properly assigned. I am assuming that the problem is
somewhere in Vista blocking out XP Pro machine but have spent hours on both
machines trying to resolve this issue. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Assuming you can't ping the Vista by IP, make sure no other security software blocks the ping and sharing. This post may help,
