This just started out of the blue. Have a HP Pavilion ze5730us notebook and
when it is tuned on it goes through the bios and xp logo screen and then goes
black. Never does anything more. Can do nothing with keyboard or mouse.
When trying to boot to safe mode it locks up part way through the boot.
Anyone have any ideas?

Yup. When one can't get into the OS and hasn't more specific errors that can
be fixed in the Recovery Console then a repair installation is generally
considered the best option.

Hi,

Is it under warranty? Sounds like a hard drive failure.
