I have xp pro sp1 on my computer at home, and I'm not
finding features on it that books an articles state should
be there. I have two issues at present.

The first on deals with making a xp boot floppy. In an
adobe file apparently written by roxio they claim I can
make a xp boot floppy by right clicking on the a drive in
my computer. I do not have that option when I right click
on the a drive. Are they full of BS? I did not think
there was such a thing as a xp boot floppy.

The second issue deals with NTFS security on that same
computer. All my volumes are NTFS. I recently converted
them with convert volume /fs: ntfs. I want to apply ntfs
security but I cannot. If I right click on any folder and
click properties I have only the General, sharing, and
customize tabs; I have no security tab. Why don't I have
this tab? Here is some general in about my PC that may or
may not be of help. I have hard drives. The first one is
basic with a c drive. The second one is dynamic with
three partitions. I upgraded from windows me to get xp
pro.

Type in help
format a disk

and

file permissions

which should answer all your questions. Try reading carefully.

Your first problem : right click on your floppy disc
drive>Format - then check "create ms-dos boot disc" You
need a floppy in before you start.

Your 2nd : I have the same problem so I will watch this
post for other replies.

For issue #2

Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab, uncheck "use simple file sharing".

I got the boot floppy thing worked out, but I did what you
said. Here's a excerpt from windows xp support help.

To set, view, change, or remove file and folder permissions
Open Windows Explorer, and then locate the file or folder
for which you want to set permissions.
Right-click the file or folder, click Properties, and then
click the Security tab.
I have no security tab! Why?

And what comes after point 4. I told you to read carefully as home and pro are different.
