Microsoft Guidelines for maintaining disks and volumes
suggests that a trial restoration be performed monthly to
confirm file/hardware integrity.
Question: How do you perform a trial restore?

A trial restore is the same as a real one, except that
you do not NEED to do it (that is, there are no problems
that you wish to recover from).

However, if the trial System Restore fails to complete
and your system is unchanged (that is, stays at the
current version), then al you can do is turn off System
Restore to delete all the System Restore files then turn
it on again to start again.

Is it only me that thinks it is hopeless that when System
Restore fails there is nothing you can do to recover it.

Thanks, however the question is not with system restore
it is with the disk backup/restore application in xp.
What is a trail restore in this appication and how is it
performed?
