Last wk installed the above. Went to Nero (CD burner) to
back system up with info stored in Backup file. After one
hour downloading, get msg saying that "cannot verify
files"; "info missing from 1st disc"; "problem copying",
etc. Unfortunately, cannot back up system and keep
outside of laptop, so have deleted (what I think is
corrupted backup) file and have no backup copy of my
system. This cannot remain as is. Can anyone help?
Thanks, Samme

If by downloading you mean this error occurred as you were copying the file
to CD, this is a Nero issue and must be directed to them.

Try using an app like ISOBuster http://www.smart-projects.net/ to see if it
can pull the image file off CD1 and then copy it to another CD and see if
you can run the backup from it. However if the backup file is indeed
corrupt and you have no other copy there is nothing we can do to help.

Windows XP Professional Edition and XP Home both ship with NTBackup. But
only XP Pro installs NTBackup by default. You can install NTBackup for XP
Home by performing the following steps:

Insert the XP Home CD-ROM.
Navigate to the VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP folder.
Double-click the ntbackup.msi file to install NTBackup.

For OEMs (purchased from Dell,Compaq etc), they might not ship the Operating
System CD. In that case, you can download ntbackup.msi from here:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi

Install Backup from the CD-ROM in Windows XP Home Edition

Using Backup

The Backup utility helps you create a copy of the information on your hard
disk. In the event that the original data on your hard disk is accidentally
erased or overwritten, or becomes inaccessible because of a hard disk
malfunction, you can use the copy to restore your lost or damaged data.
Open Backup.
To start Backup, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories,
point to System Tools, and then click Backup.
You can also use the Automated System Recovery Wizard in the Backup utility
to help you repair your system.
